Mélody Boulissière

Mélody Boulissière (born in 1991) studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris, then at La Poudrière, an animation school in Valence.
Her work combines traditional techniques such as animated painting, oil pastels and collage. She draws inspiration from her travels and nature, and has a particular interest in hybrid and documentary forms.
Her graduation film, Ailleurs (Somewhere), was selected for the 2016 Cannes Film Festival in the Cinéfondation section and went on to be screened at more than 50 international festivals.
From 2016 to 2019, she directed commissioned films and worked as an animator on short films using traditional techniques such as charcoal and animated sand.
In 2021, she co-directed the pilot Patouille, des graines en parachute (Patouille and the Parachute Seeds). The series project received the CICLIC Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and was broadcast on France 5. It was selected for more than 50 festivals around the world, including the Ottawa International Animation Festival and the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, and received a special mention at the Hsin-Yi Children's Animation Film Festival in Taiwan.
In 2024, she completed Quelque chose de divin (Simply Divine), an animated short documentary combining archival photographs and animated painting, co-directed with Bogdan Stamatin. Selected for more than 80 festivals (DOK Leipzig, IDFA, Hot Docs, Sapporo, etc.), the film won more than 15 awards, as well as a special mention from the jury at IDFA in Amsterdam, the largest documentary film festival.

In 2025, she completed the series Patouille & Momo, a children's series consisting of 26 six-minute episodes, created with Inès Bernard Espina and Clémentine Campos. Each episode, both humorous and poetic, introduces a new plant, making botany accessible and appealing to young audiences. The series will be broadcast on France Télévisions in 2026.
Mélody Boulissière will be coming to Miramar for a residency to develop her new animated film project.
